The sound on my iPhone speakers are low?

I had a little accident with it awhile ago. Some chocolate accidentally melted in my bag and got on my iPhone. When I found it, the bottom part of my iPhone (with the speakers and the port) was drenched with melted chocolate. I tried my best to clean it out. The port I think is fine. I thought I cleaned the speakers enough as well. But it was just when I started playing my music that I noticed how low it is playing than usual. Is it because of the chocolate? Is there a way I can fix this? Or should I bring it to the Apple store or something? Thank you for your help!
