Why do people in GWS us the word generalize so much?

Obviously people generalize sometimes but when women are asking a question about for example "cheating men" they do not mean all men just the ones that are cheaters. Or if someone ask a question to do with "radical feminist" they do not mean all feminist just the radical men-hating ones. It just seems like when people do not like a question but cannot come up with valid points or reasoning they just say "that's a generalization" just seems like a cop-out to me. But hey, I'm probably generalizing.
